Hm...I love my friend Grace.

She's da bomb, no doubt. Usually freshman are annoying, but not Grace. Thankfully she's mature enough not to laugh at the dumbest stuff out there. Course, when I need someone to laugh at my "That's what she said" jokes, I go to her. I have two favorite freshman. Roberto is my favorite freshman dude and Grace is my favorite freshman chick. She is one of the reasons I look foward to WH2. If I didn't know Grace, I'd probally be a lost soul and never would say a "That's what she said joke".

Hm...I love Grace...

Cross County banquet tonight

So yea, the banquet was today. My dad being the kind of person he is...*cough* old *cough*, had me dress up all formal and stuff. Well when we got there, surprise surprise...no body is dressed up. Damn, I was the only one. Oh well...I was gonna go sit with my friends and eat some fried chicken. It took a while, but we finally starting handing out the awards. Every person got their certificate and jank while Joe and Mug gave out some special awards. Apparently, I was special enough to get my own...I mean, I guess surviving a car crach doesn't merit anything...but hey, who cares? Wade got like three funny ones including the Red Cross one and some Redskins one. John got something about North Dakota. Roberto got a Red Cross one as well. Tim got one for un-usual injury. The three Red Cross ones had to do with injuries...again, I got hit by a car...just throwing that out there. Duane got one about him being ripped while Christian got one about being a true G. Then they moved on to the captains giving out smack awards. For all the crap Wade took about being a 'Skins fan, it all paid out when they gave him a 'skins hoodie. John got a bottle of hair conditioner while Tim got some rope thingy. Roberto got something as well but I can't remember. They gave me a "Best NFL team...sike" shirt with a nicely painted Dolphin. Just glad it wasn't a roadkill one...haha. All in all it was pretty sweet. Now I got to give some ladies my individual pictures with me in my uniform ;)

Crap...I got hit by a car

I was running with Wade, Roberto, and Jason and we were trying to cross the street. I saw that there was a red-light and a row of cars so I figured we were good to go. I took one step off the curb and wham! Out of nowhere this car came and hit me. I did a funky jive motion and missed getting hit too baddly. The lady who hit me stopped and asked if I was alright. Remarkably, I was. So we talked for about ten minutes and gave her my name and stuff. Well when we were about to get ready to go, she called us back after she saw the dent and broken mirror. Uhh...now is when the crazy stuff happens. I had no idead where the guy came from, but this worker walked by and said he and 4 others saw the whole thing. Apparently I ran in front of her, which didn't make me look good in the police's eyes. Then the 5-0 came and filed a report. Uh-oh...I had to give him my name, number, parent's name, address, etc... What really pissed me off was that the lady thinks I was trying to run away, and mentioned hit-and-run. That bitch! Long story short, they called my parents, I had to tell Joe what happened, he's going to have to talk to the AD of Hermitage, and we're probally not going to be able to run off campus for a while. Plus, we need to settle this thing like who's fault it was and who needs to pay.

Also, my mom was super pissed/confused. She still doesn't understand what the hell happened. I got hit by a car...what's not to get? My dad isn't mad, he's just "I told you so..." My friends say they have my back...and that is why I'll be able to rest tonight knowing someone has my back.

Today was a bad day...

You know, I'm starting to hate my Geometry class more and more. Today hit an all new low. The people who I've thought were my friends have been continually messing with me for about two weeks now and it's getting pretty old. Then somebody told my teacher something embarassing that happened last year and she laughed about it! I couldn't take it anymore, I needed to leave the room. They were really hurting my feelings this time, thought I doubt they had any idea untill I left the room. When I got back I just gave everybody the silent treatment. My teacher realized her mistake and try to make things better by giving me a tootsieroll. Then then class douchebag tries to play it funny and mess with me some more. If they were trying to make me feel bad, they were doing a great job. You have no idea how much I wanted to leave and just cry. I know it's lame but I seriously felt horrible. I didn't want to break down in the middle of class though. Everybody else could sense it by now though about how bad it had gotten. The rest of day was spent trying to make me feel better. Pft...I know it's high school and all but sometimes things can be rough. I'm just thankful I didn't cry in the middle of class...

You know...

The librarian is a bitch...
The other two are nice
but the other is just mean as hell

Ugh, just bring him back already...

Trade Ryan Church along with some other prospects for Erik Bedard, NOT including Gomez and Martinez...we need to keep them. After doing that, just trade for Xavier Nady. He's a well liked player by Met fans alike and is a solid outfielder who could platoon with Caros Gomez.

Pft...

I'm getting sick and tired of all these Johan Santana trade talks going around. Okay, we all know he's gonna get traded any second now, but to have a new rumor every ten minutes can really get annoying. Now, I just hope a deal can get finished so we, the public and fans, can move on to another story.

Like how Erik Bedard wants out of Baltimore (who wouldn't?) and that the Mets are close to a deal with the O's to get him...

Or how the Yankees will probally trade for Danny Haren since they lost out on Johan Santana...

Or maybe where the hell Carlos Silva will end up and how much he'll get overpayed...

Or if Andruw Jones will get the deal he wants, even after having his worst season ever in the majors...

Or if Mike Piazza ends up going to Japan...

who knows...

Best way to build a team

You know, just for once, I'd wish the Mets would hang on to their young players and build a team through them. I'm so sick and tired of us losing draft picks cause we need to sign the biggest free agents out there. We have had really good prospects in the past, but were traded away for proven talent. Hell, most of our prospects are with Florida now due to a couple of trades back in the winter of '05.

If you ask me, the best ways of building a team is through the draft. If you constantly sign free agents then you'll get nowhere. Just look at the New York Yankees of now and the Mets of the mid '90s. They didn't get anywhere since that was all they did. But look at the Atlanta Braves from '91-'05. They won the NL East 14 straight times and even went to the World Series twice, winning one of them, all because they held on to their prospects. They developed them through the minors and constantly pissed off fans like me since it worked. Two other teams to look at are the Minnisota Twins and Oakland Athletics. Due to their owners being cheap assholes, they can't sign the big free agents. Instead, they need to keep constantly building their ways up for the future instead of winning now. And when they finally do get to that point, most of their young players get to become eligible for free agency and dart for the big bucks given to them by teams like the Mets and Yankees. It's really a shame too.

But the two teams I mentioned earlier, both New York teams, may finally be getting the clue. The Yankees have some pretty good talent out there in the minors ready to blossom into big leaguers while the Mets are the same. While the Yankees were smart, and didn't trade Phil Hughes, Ian Kennedy, and Joba Chamberlan, the Mets were the same and kept on to players like David Wright and Jose Reyes. Course...if the reports are true, the Yankees may soon trade away Hughes, Melky Cabrera, and a third prospect for Johan Santana. And if that were to happen, guess who's farm system would be crippled and guess who's team would rejoice? Get the picture now?

If I were Omar Minaya, I would hang on to players like Kevin Mulvey, Carlos Gomez, and Fernando Martinez and contend for the next 10-15 years. Just look at our rotation if we were to keep our young guns:

Pedro
Maine
Perez
Humber or Pelfrey, which ever doesn't get traded
Mulvey

That is a nice, young group of talent in slots 2-5. Pedro is still the ace as you can see. I took El Duque out of there since I think he should go to the bullpen and save his arm a little. And when you look at fielding positions:

Carlos Delgado(1st)
Luis Castillo(2nd)
Jose Reyes(SS)
David Wright(3rd)
Brian Schneider/Ramon Castro/Johnny Estrada(C)
Carlos Beltran(OF)
Carlos Gomez/Ryan Church(OF)
Moisus Alou(OF)

Now, chances are Estrada will be gone by opening day and Church maybe too. Delgado better have a bounceback season or else I think his ass should be gone next year. Alou is old as dirt but if he can play effectively for another year, then maybe we can slot Church in LF after next year if he isn't traded by then. That way, when Fernando Martinez is ready by '09 or '10, he can take over. That way our outfield will consist of Gomez, Beltran, and Martinez. We're solid at SS and 3rd for the next decade since Reyes and Wright are both only 24 and monsters and will be All-Stars for many years to come. Only problems I can see in the future will be 2nd, 1st, and Catcher. Our only prospect at 1st is Mike Carp and he hasn't proven much in the minors. I have no idea of any propects at 2nd except for Ruben Gotay and Anderson Hernandez, and even then I'm being generous in calling them "prospects". At catcher, I know of a guy named Fransisco Pena but he's a ways away from being in the majors.

Ugh...this better get me a job somewhere one day...

Herm lost

Darn, that's all I can say. That was one hell of a season. We won districts, regionals, and made it to states. It was the farthest Hermitage had been in like over 20 years and it was pretty exciting. The team Herm lost to had one of the fastest running backs and biggest quarterbacks I had ever seen. Those two were the ones that pretty much screwed us over for the whole game. Ah well...

Winter Meetings start soon

I'm pretty much stoked since this is the time of the year when some of the biggest trades go down. Hopefully the Mets can get either Haren/Blanton/Berdard over at the meetings. If we can somehow not trade away Carlos Gomez, Kevin Mulvey, and Fernando Martinez, I'll be happy.
