Omar pulled the trigger

Traded Milledge to the Nats for Brian Shneider and Ryan Church. I'm not hating this deal at all, I think it's a very sold deal by Omar. Milledge was starting to be a pain in the ass anyway. I welcome Church and Schneider.

Guess this means Johnny Estrada's short time with the Mets is about to come to an end...

Monster Trade

Matt Garza and two others to the Tampa Bay Rays for Delmon Young and two others. Wow, both teams got great young players in Young and Garza. The Twins now have a nice bat with HOF potential while the Rays have a nice young arm who will fit nicely into their rotation. All of a sudden, Tampa Bay has a nice core group of pitchers in Scott Kazmir, James Shields, and Matt Garza. Maybe they'll be able to compete for once...

Now I'm Sad

According to some reports, the Mets could trade Jose Reyes to the Twins for Johan Santana. If that were to happen, I'm not afraid to admit it, I'd cry...I really would.

So apparently the Mets are interested in a couple big name pitchers...

Not sure if I'd welcome such a deal. So far the names I keep hearing are Johan Santana, Erik Bedard, Joe Blanton, and Danny Haren. Now, trading for any of these pitchers would seriously cripple our farm system. I'm a big fan of our young players. We have three very good outfield prospects in Lastings Milledge, Carlos Gomez, and Fernando Martinez. We also have three young studs in the pitching department with Phil Humber, Mike Pelfrey, and Kevin Mulvey. Of all those big-name pitchers, I believe Joe Blanton would be the easiest to get. The A's probally wouldn't ask for as much as him as they would say Dan Haren. Johan Santana, the big daddy of the three, would require much more than the prospects. It would also take a good $150 million to waive his no-trade cost a accept the trade. Now, if I had a choice on who they should take, I would pick Dan Haren. He'd still require some big-name prospects, but he'd be affordable for the forseeable future. Plus, he's still young and would fit nicely into our rotation. But in the end, if we get any of the mentioned players, I'd be happy.

3-0?

Wow...that game sucked. I mean, I knew it was going to be a stinker of a game...but I had no idea both teams would play so poorly. Miami continues to suck, we're currently 0-11 and it's only going to get worse from here. We've lost Ronnie Brown for the year, Chris Chambers has been traded, and John Beck has been thrown into the fire as a rookie QB. Ted Ginn's been exciting though, if I do say so myself. The draft is 5 months away, and man does Chris Long look like a nice choice right about now.
