The Day in Sports

Well yesterday was both good and bad. First, the good...

Tom Glavine got his 298th carrer win yesterday, 2 shy of the glorious number 300. He is already going into the Hall Of Fame, but this is just icing on the cake. 300 is one of the biggest numbers in baseball. Every pitcher strives to be a 300 game winner...though only few succeed.

Glavine pitched into the 8th inning yesterday, despreate for that win. This was his third shot at 298, and he wasn't going to leave without it. And he got it...due to Lastings Milledge's clutch single in the 8th with Shawn Green at second...who scored. With Billy Wagner closing it out, Tommy G. got his 298th career victory. He will be the first Mets player to win 300 games in a Mets uniform. Tom Seaver, known as the best pitcher in Mets history, won 311 games...though winning 198 of them in a Mets uniform. He is currently the only player in the Hall of Fame with a Mets cap.

Generally, when you go into the hall...you wear a cap of the team where all your success came. So when Tom Glavine goes into the HOF, he will be wearing a Braves cap.

Though Mets fans can rejoice. When Mike Piazza goes into the Hall...there will then be two players in the Hall wearing a Mets cap.

And now for the bad news...

Dolphins WR Chris Chambers was arrested Saturday morning for driving while impaired and speeding. This is the second Dolphin arrested in just three weeks.
